"The Asian culture and Chinese in particular, is based on unity and order. Anything perceived as straying from the accepted norm, which is group cohesion and cooperation; i.e. sublimation of the individual, is looked askance on by the community and traditionally the company (Zhu & Warner, 2004, p.47). German culture, on the other hand, although reserved is still very much based on Western competitive models. The very nature of competitive behaviour demands that the individual separate him or herself from the group. Competition is based on differentiation and, usually, at the sacrifice of others who are perceived to be losers. "
