This paper is a very detailed critique of a nursing oriented article on teen pregnancy prevention programs, using a specific simulator, "Baby Think It Over" over the course of two days and three nights on a weekend and pre and post tests for comparative purposes. According to this paper, results were statistically insignificant; however, a post-test survey taken strictly of those in the test group provided valuable insights into teens' perspectives of sexual activity and teen pregnancy.

Not only can salient research provide new insights into how a nurse in any area of practice can enhance their patient care; being informed of new options in patient care makes for better nursing. As such, knowing how to judge salient research which provides valid and reliable information from that which does not is critical. This paper provides a detailed critique of the article Effectiveness of the "Baby Think It Over" Teen Pregnancy Prevention Program written by Cheryl S. Somers and Mariane M. Fahlman that was published in the Journal of School Health in May, 2001. Ms. Somers is an assistant professor in the department of Educations Psychology at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan."
