He included these analogies in his argument in an attempt to clarify complex metaphysical issues in terms laymen could understand, and succeeded to a certain extent in enabling his readers to maintain their sanity while trying to determine if time or anything else is actually real. But McTaggart's ultimate argument that time is unreal is flawed because it rests completely upon his rejection of the two major theories about time."
