The main research question was: What are the effects of restructuring on residents of those communities? It was determined that the people experienced substantial disruption and instability? Essentially, the book is an exploration of "the interaction of the new economy and the new technology in the everyday lives of everyday people" (Winston & Leach, 2002, p. 3). "
