"Aristotle rhetorically asks if happiness can be learned, but he immediately answers by claiming that it is god-given. Happiness, Aristotle claims, tends to come with maturity. "A boy is not happy; for he is not yet capable of such acts, owing to his age; and boys who are called happy are being congratulated for the hopes we have for them." (Aristotle, p. 345) To Aristotle, happiness comes as a result of what he calls "a complete life". One can argue that a boy's happiness is a result of his innocence or naivete, and that his actions in later life, determine whether he in on the right path for self-sufficiency and happiness, or whether the constraints of adult-hood and his mission of life within his city or nation or community relegates him to being unhappy."
