The fact is when a medieval man becomes a knight, he vows to follow these rules. The rules developed from the values of the Christian religion and perfection of moral principles. Charles Moorman defines the knights as the "leaders not through class status or wealth or even birth, but through the excellencies of the heart and mind and hands" (26). "
