Everywhere, society seemed to be celebrating and encouraging procreation, with the media constantly including images of glowing domesticity in publications directed at women. Marriage and motherhood were deemed not only appropriate courses for the nation's generation of young women, but were deemed honourable and praiseworthy as well. The economic prosperity that had befallen the nation following their victory in war allowed young families to have more children, and 'the home' soon became the locus of attention, where all the family's money was poured. Contraception was scarcely discussed during these times, since society was so clearly pro-natalist. "
