An analysis of space, boundary, imprisonment and liberation in "The Matrix". The paper looks at the unity of these elements in the creation of the film's themes, in addition to looking at filmic techniques and philosophical issues of the film in its analysis.
From the Paper:
""The Matrix" explores deeply philosophical issues within the science fiction / action film genre. Within the mainstream Hollywood praxis The Matrix achieves intellectual ideas which rival many cult science fiction greats. The most poignant theme is undoubtedly the idea of reality, and ideas of moral choices. Throughout the film ideas of imprisonment, salvation and liberation are fore grounded. Visually the movie boasts incredibly special effects with space and boundary developing the films themes. Thus, through the unity of the visual and the intellectual the Matrix achieves its philosophical integrity, utilizing space and boundary as a means to develop themes of imprisonment and liberation within the film."
